New Galaxy Note 8 leak shows how great Samsung’s new flagship design will be

New Galaxy Note 8 leak shows how great Samsung’s new flagship design will be  There’s precious little doubt that Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ wear the crown when it comes to smartphone design. While Apple chose to go with the same smartphone design for a third consecutive year in 2017, Samsung was hard at work on a bold new redesign featuring a stunning Infinity Display that takes up an impressive 83% of the Galaxy S8’s front side. The S8’s curved edges fit perfectly in hands of all sizes, and the premium metal and glass construction seal the deal. If you recently purchased a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, rest assured that you own the sleekest and most stunning smartphone on the planet… for now. A leaked photo posted just yesterday seemingly gave us a rare glimpse at Samsung’s unreleased Galaxy Note 8, which is rumored to be in development and slated for launch sometime in August. The photo showed what appear to be several key design improvements over the Galaxy S8 and

Fleet Of Flying Saucer UFOs Spotted Hovering, Beaming Light To The Ground Over Arizona (Photo) A case involving an Arizona woman who claims to have photographed six disc-shaped UFOs hovering in the night sky and beaming light rays down to the ground is being investigated by UFO researchers. The woman sighted and photographed the alleged fleet of hovering flying saucer UFOs while traveling in a train through Apache County, in the Arizona desert, on April 14, 2017, Open Minds TV reported. The woman reported the UFO sighting to her daughter who filed a report with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), a U.S-based organization that documents and investigates UFO sightings and alien encounters. The report was filed in the organization’s reporting database on April 27, 2017, as Case 83376. According to the report, the woman was traveling in a train through the Arizona desert to Texas. It was late in the night but she was unable to sleep due to the train’s motion and noise. As the tra

'Garfield GO' Is Real, Exists On iOS And Android

' Garfield GO' Is Real, Exists On iOS And Android Here it is: the genuine article. We now have a true Pokémon GO knockoff in the form of Garfield GO, which I think everyone agreed was the next logical license to go with after Pokémon. It's the Garfield treasure hunting game we've all been waiting for, where the player hunts for coins out in the real world collecting hats, comic strips and other treasure, leveling up all the way. It's out now on iOS and Android in the US, Canada and Australia. We've seen at least one terrifying Pokémon GO knockoff before, but this one is a bit more together than that one. It's you might say, a little less polished than Pokémon GO. The map looks a little jankier, and the collection conceit doesn't work nearly as well with Pokémon around. The lack of Niantic's giant database of Pokéstops and gyms makes the world feel flat. Still, the bones are there. You throw lasagna at Garfield to collect treasure becaus

Amy Childs speaks of love for daughter Polly in touching post following shock split with Bradley Wright

Amy Childs speaks of love for daughter Polly in touching post following shock split with Bradley Wright (Photo: Instagram) She sensationally split up with the father of her baby just six weeks giving birth, but Amy Childs is trying to stay positive despite her recent heartbreak. The new mum took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to her adorable daughter Polly. In the sweet shot, Amy cradles her sleeping little one in her arms as she gazes off into the disance. The former Towie star was dressed in an delicate embroidered gown and wore her hair scraped back in a sleek pony. The redhead captioned the tribute: "My beautiful Polly is now 6 weeks old and the love I have for my daughter already is unconditional." Amy was clearly feeling emotional after a difficult few weeks. She and Polly's father Bradley Wright, who was jailed in 2015 for handling stolen goods, split just weeks after the birth after a string of rows. Amy and Bradley share a cosy selfie

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle looks like the crazy cartoon strategy game you didn't know you wanted

Image
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is released for Nintendo Switch on 29 August There was a wonderful moment in Ubisoft's excellent E3 conference where David Soliani the director of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a barmy crossover strategy game for Switch, broke down in tears. Here was a man so proud of his work that the moment of its reveal overcame him. Perhaps what makes this more extraordinary is that Mario + Rabbids is a game no-one thought they wanted. It combines Nintendo's famous plumber with Ubisoft's wacky creatures the Rabbids, possibly best described as the games industry's Minions (although the Rabbids came first in a 2006 Rayman spin-off). Love them or hate them, everyone tends to have an opinion. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot as they reveal Mario + Rabbids The feeling was that it was a mash-up that didn't reflect well on Mario. The Rabbids not fit to button his dungarees. Yet another reason for Soliani

E3 2017: Phil Spencer Talks Xbox One X Potentially Being Held Back By PS4 Deals

E3 2017: Phil Spencer Talks Xbox One X Potentially Being Held Back By PS4 Deals Microsoft officially revealed the Xbox One X at E3 this week, providing a name and details for the improved Xbox One formerly known as Project Scorpio. It's more powerful than PS4 Pro, but game companies now find themselves in a position where they have to decide how to approach the improvements that are offered on Xbox One X as compared with PS4 Pro. We learned this week that Destiny 2 will run at 30 FPS on Xbox One X, just as it will on PS4 Pro. But it's unclear if that framerate is the result of hardware restrictions or because Sony, through its partnership with Activision, would not allow the game to run better on rival hardware. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer joined GameSpot today on our E3 live show to discuss this and much more. Regarding the potential for games' technical performance to be held back due to such arrangement, he noted that he was not aware of that specifically hap

OnePlus 5 Will Be ‘Easy’ To Purchase, CEO Pete Lau Says

Image
OnePlus 5 Will Be ‘Easy’ To Purchase, CEO Pete Lau Says OnePlus Chief Executive Officer Pete Lau recently took to Chinese social media platform Weibo to assure consumers that the OnePlus 5 will be “easy” to purchase once it launches. The top executive of the OPPO Electronics-owned company gave that assessment in response to one user who implied that the firm’s upcoming flagship will be difficult to obtain once it launches, which has been the case with several flagships that OnePlus released to date. In a comment that has seemingly been deleted as of this writing but can be seen below, Lau said that purchasing the OnePlus 5 will be a relatively straightforward matter, implying that he doesn’t expect any shortages or delays. Concerns about the availability of the OnePlus 5 stem from several directions; the Shenzhen. Guangdong-based original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has a history of struggling to meet demand for its products and that issue only became more pronounced ove

Galaxy Note 8 announcement rush could cost Samsung again

Galaxy Note 8 announcement rush could cost Samsung again While it might not have the same back and forth uncertainty as the iPhone 8’s fingerprint scanner or lack thereof, the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is quickly becoming a topsy-turvy affair as well.  First it was rumored to happen late August, just a wee bit before IFA 2017 in September. And then whispers of an IFA announcement have started to roll. Now we’re back to August, but at a possibly even earlier date.  All of this to try to beat the Apple iPhone 8 to market. If you simply base it on the fact that the Galaxy S8 was delayed by a good month, you’d reasonably expect the Galaxy Note 8 to follow the customary 6 month period to give a flagship enough time in the market. Samsung, however, is anything but consistent, so, in some sense, a super early August reveal isn’t exactly out of the ordinary for it. Its reason for doing so, however, might give people a strong sense of deja vu. After all, the Galaxy S8

Sony Toio is a mashup of tiny cube robots and game consoles

Image
Sony Toio is a mashup of tiny cube robots and game consoles Sony might not be a name you’d immediately associate with robotic toys, but it does, or rather did, have a few under its name, from the dog-like Aibo to the the “dancing” Rolly to, more recently, the KOOV robotics kit. It isn’t done yet, however, and a Toio product may be just over the horizon. Aimed at very young learners, Toio mixes papercraft, tiny rolling robot cubes, and a system that resembles a gaming console, complete with controllers and even cartridges. It’s somewhat hard to describe Toio in one phrase beyond being an educational robotics system. It is practically made up of three parts. There are the robots, which are practically white cubes with wheels, sensors, and a downward facing camera underneath. And then there’s controller, which takes the form of a miniature console. The base has two slots for charging up to two robots, and two ring controllers with motion sensors for manually controlling the

2018 McLaren 570S Spider opens roof on 204mph British supercar

2018 McLaren 570S Spider opens roof on 204mph British supercar McLaren’s Sports Series is gaining a third bodystyle, with the 2018 McLaren 570S Spider chopping off the roof so you can really hear the twin-turbos sing. Based on the original 570S Coupe, the Spider packs a retractable hardtop that splits into two, folding into the bodywork in just 15 seconds. Drivers will be able to operate it at up to 25 mph. Courtesy of lightweight composite materials, the overall weight increase is fairly minimal compared to the fixed-roof Coupe. In fact, it’s just 101 pounds heavier, and McLaren says that there’s no change in structural rigidity. That’s aided by the carbon-fiber MonoCell II chassis, of course. Drop the roof, and a glazed wind deflector can motor up to help cut wind-buffeting. It can also be opened even when the roof is up, for extra ventilation. An optional sports system has an ESG that channels exhaust sounds to the cabin, routed underneath the tonneau cover that p

How to get rid of the ‘soap opera’ effect on your new TV

Image
How to get rid of the ‘soap opera’ effect on your new TV If you recently purchased a new high-end TV, only to turn it on and feel disappointment and confusion about the weird video motion, you’re not alone. Some call it the ‘BBC effect,’ referring to the similarity between motion on new televisions and the motion effect on older BBC shows that used to bother so many American viewers. In recent times, though, this strange new video experience has become known as the ‘soap opera effect,’ and you can get rid of it if you’d like. The soap opera effect, obviously, gets its name from the similarity between motion in soap operas and the motion on new TVs. If you’ve never seen this in person, it is hard to explain; if you have seen it, though, you know exactly what we’re talking about. The same motion effect can be found in some theaters, depending on the technology they’re using. Not many people like it the first (or second) time around, and a subset say it makes them feel sick.

Google Pixel Launcher passes 1M downloads, here’s how to get it

Image
Google Pixel Launcher passes 1M downloads, here’s how to get it The Google Pixel Launcher, the default launcher that is exclusive, at least officially, to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL has just passed its 1 million downloads milestone. While that in itself is already commendable, the number also gives us a rough idea of how many Pixel phones there are out there. This sudden interest in what was formerly the “Google Nexus Launcher”, previously the “Google Now Launcher”, could make some curious as to what the fuss is all about. And thanks to the hard work of Amir Zaidi, with some hints from other app developers, you can now try it on your own Android phone. And you don’t even need to root it. It’s almost too easy to jump from “1 million Pixel Launcher downloads” to “1 million Pixel phones sold”. After all, the Pixel Launcher is exclusive to these two Google-made phones. Even the Pixel C uses a different package specifically for it. However, it isn’t a 1:1 correspondence,

People in tower blocks don't matter to politicians until they're dead

People in tower blocks don't matter to politicians until they're dead In the UK tower blocks are traditionally a place where governments put people who don't matter. They pile up the poor, and then ignore them because they probably don't vote and will probably never get out of the carefully-designed ghetto they've been installed in. Now the 24-storey Grenfell Tower has burned itself on our retinas, we all have a chance to study it. A council block with hundreds of people living in it, heaped upon one another while they love and argue and raise or grieve their children, just like everyone else. Last night those people woke up to the smell of burning plastic and a conflagration that in less than an hour had turned their homes into a 67-metre torch. In the darkness and early dawn at least six of them perished, a figure likely to rise as firefighters pick through the smoking ruins to find those who succumbed to the fumes and flames. There are already reports
